National Jeweler - 3 Designing Women Get WJA Diva Award

Las Vegas-New York designer Alexandra Woo was recently chosen as the winner of the second annual Women's Jewelry Association Diva Award. Woo's 18-karat yellow and white gold brooch With diamonds and a South Sea pearl cared Woo the grand prize and $1,000.

The theme of the competition was "The 21st Century Woman." "We were especially pleased with the response and the quality of the entries this year," said Cri Cri Solak-Eastin, WIA Jewelry Design Committee chairwoman.

Woo explained the theme of her creation: "The basket of white and yellow gold represents the threads of life women of the 20th Century have woven. This is juxtaposed with smooth, sleek rays of gold that represent the many paths and opportunities we women can now take."
